I grabbed a drink  with  Ted yesterday at this country bar in the middle of nowhere. Max and Mini-Ted were along for the ride. I asked Michael, Ted’s son, “Hey bud what’d you do today?”

His response: “Play.”

This is all just a game, it’ll work itself out in the end.

The thing I miss the most about the newspaper is my co-workers. Luckily, I’m still logging some quality time with my people still aboard that ship. One of those people (pictured) would like to remain anonymous.  Clue: He drives a deal-mobile and his name rhymes with snack bagel.

birthday blog

May 9, 2009

My early retirement tour of the country continues. I decided to spend my birthday visiting my brother (seen at left in this photo) in Jacksonville, Florida. I arrived at 7 a.m. via Amtrak, a train ride I hope to repeat in the near future. He said it was the first ‘really’ nice day for hitting the beach this year. It was an incredible day. Florida gets a bad rap, people.

Sunday was my first day back in Raleigh, and of course we had a little jam session to break me back in. Jacob, our fill-in guitarist who basically turned into a prodigy over the last few months, kicked off his boots. Addison Walk is laying low for the next few months but we’ll be back in full effect next fall! In the meantime…anyone wanna start a band?

Sun is a scarcity in Seattle. This little dog seemed just as happy to see it as I was.

gasworks

Gasworks park is one of my favorite places in America.  The fact that a city that takes a HUGE chunk of prime waterfront real estate and preserves it as a public park (perfect for kite flying) is just one of the reasons I love Seattle.
